What Is A Home Information Pack (HIP)?

A HIP is a House Information Pack. The government introduced home information packs in August 2007 to improve the transactional process of buying and selling property in England and Wales. From September 2007 it is compulsory for all home owners in England and Wales with properties containing 3 or more bedrooms to commission a home information pack before being able to market their property for sale.

What Is An Energy Performance Certificate?

An energy performance certificate (EPC) is part of the home information packs (HIPS). The certificates are commissioned by the seller (or their agent) from an accredited domestic energy assessor (DEA),  who visits the property to collect the relevant data and creates the certificate. This data includes the date, construction and location of the house and relevant fittings (insulation, heating systems, double glazing and lighting)
